Vegas Play of the Day: Eagles at 49ers

San Francisco vs Dallas

L.M. Otero / AP

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis (85) reaches up to grab a touchdown pass as Dallas Cowboys’ Bruce Carter (54), J.J. Wilcox (27) and Justin Durant (52) watch in the first half of an NFL game Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, in Arlington, Texas.

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Philadelphia Eagles plus-4.5 at San Francisco 49ers: $550 to win $500: I’ll take points with the better team. Often the most obvious stat in handicapping goes overlooked — a team’s overall record. It’s that simple today.

Philadelphia is one of a handful of undefeated teams remaining in the NFL and playing for a 4-0 start to the season. Coach Chip Kelly’s offense scores more than 30 points per game.

San Francisco has dropped its last two games and is one of football’s biggest disappointments with a 1-2 record. The 49ers were supposed to challenge the Seattle Seahawks to win the NFC. Instead, they looked awful last week in scoring just 14 points in a loss at Arizona.

I don’t see San Francisco scoring with Philadelphia. I also don’t see them stopping the Eagles all day. The Eagles have trailed in all three of its wins before figuring it out with an offensive explosion in the second half.

Standings: Standings: Bern (47-38-1, $12,921), Keefer (44-45, $11,121), Brewer (39-45-3, $5,625)
