Vegas Play of the Day: Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Toronto Blue Jays minus-120 at New York Yankees: $360 to win $300

The Blue Jays are going with the Man in the Van on the mound tonight — if you haven’t already, read this Daniel Norris profile by Eli Saslow — and while I’d like to say that story isn’t the main reason I’m betting on Toronto, I also don’t want to lie to you. Norris is the Blue Jays’ best overall prospect and after another offseason spent living out of his 1978 Volkswagen camper, he’s ready for his second career start.

In the minors last season, Norris led the league with 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings. He should have some success the first time he’s playing new teams, plus the Yankees were lucky just to come back last night. That won’t happen again tonight.
