Vegas Play of the Day: Blue Jays at Yankees

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

New York Yankees minus-110 vs. Toronto Blue Jays: $330 to win $300:: I will take the Bronx Bombers at home on a Friday night against any team in baseball. Yes, even against the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays, who enter this crucial American League East series on a five-game winning streak.

Some feel Toronto, which made a splash at the trade deadline by landing Troy Tulowitzki and David Price, will ultimately capture the pennant in the final two months of the season. I say, not so fast, especially with 40-year-old R.A. Dickey starting important games for the Blue Jays. The Yankees, who enter with a 4.5-game lead in the standings, should increase their lead starting tonight.

New York is second in baseball in runs scored and third in home runs. Dickey enters with a 6-10 record and 4.10 earned run average. He’s struck out just 90 batters in 140 innings pitched, meaning the Yankees will put the ball in play. Dickey has won his last three starts, but two of those came against light-hitting Oakland and Philadelphia.

New York is 32-18 at home and is always tough to beat in the Bronx. Toronto, despite its recent good play, is just 22-31 on the road.

Current Standings: (as of July 1): Current Standings (as of July 1): Bern (6-3, $11,390), Brewer (6-5, $10,400), Keefer (4-10, $6,546)

Lifetime Records: 2014-15 champion Bern (89-77-1), Keefer (88-94-2), Brewer (77-93-2)
