Vegas Play of the Day: Oakland at Baltimore

Baltimore Orioles minus-130 vs. Oakland A’s: $390 to win $300:: My pick in this column space Friday was a complete disaster — not only did the Mariners fail to beat the Red Sox, they lost by 14 runs. Today’s another day, fortunately.

Baltimore has all of the momentum in the series after beating Oakland Friday with a game-ending home run in 13 innings. The win keeps the Orioles in solid contention for one of two wild card playoff spots in the American League at two games out of the second spot. With a 33-20 record at home, defending their home turf will be critical in the playoff hunt.

More important, Chris Davis is absolutely killing the ball over the past month in leading the playoff charge. The slugger is batting .327 with 13 home runs and 21 RBIs over the past 30 days, performing like the player who blasted more than 50 home runs two seasons ago and not the one who last year failed to bat above .200.
