Vegas Play of the Day: Michigan vs. NC State

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Michigan at NC State, Total Over 142.5, $440 to win $400: The points total doesn’t match the stats in this game. NC State scores 80 points per game and Michigan averages 78 points. That’s a combined 158 points, or 16 less than the betting number.

Michigan has been strong defensively in surrendering just 69 points per game, but results against lightweights such as North Michigan and Elon have made the Wolverines look better than they really are. They gave up 86 points in losing to Xavier and 74 in a loss to UConn. NC State, led by Anthony Barber’s 21 points per game, will be able to score.

Plus, with the new 30 second shot clock in college basketball, teams receive more possessions each game. I would have set the total at 150.
