Chicago Bulls’ Jimmy Butler prepares to run a play against the New York Knicks during the third quarter of an NBA basketball game Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, in New York. New York defeated Chicago 107-91.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Chicago Bulls plus-9 at Oklahoma City Thunder: $330 to win $300

Chicago has been one of the two worst bets in the NBA and has already contributed to my horrific six-month stretch in the Play of the Day. But I can’t help but think they’re getting a couple more points than they should in Oklahoma City today.

The Bulls are still tough enough on defense, ranking 3rd in the NBA in defensive efficiency, to test the Thunder. Oklahoma City is on a great 9-2 straight-up, 6-5 against the spread run in December but both of those losses came to teams also in the top 10 for defense.

This also looks like a nice scheduling spot for the Bulls, which have rested with four days off since losing to the Nets at home in their only game this week. The Thunder already played a pair of games on the west coast, beating both the Lakers and Clippers, before traveling home late Wednesday night.

The Bulls are too talented not to figure out their offensive issues eventually. They’re too talented to be getting 9 points against almost any team.
