Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Air Force plus-9.5 vs. San Diego State: $330 to win $300

I really tried talking myself out of the Falcons side, but even without two of the team’s best players, it just makes sense to me to take that many points against San Diego State.

These teams met three weeks ago, and since then, Air Force has lost its leading rebounder, Kamryn Williams, to a season-ending injury and its leading scorer, Max Yon, to an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons. Both players are seniors and were counted on for more than just their production, and now they’re both off the court, at least for the time being in Yon’s case.

With its full compliment of players, the Falcons were able to go into Viejas Arena on New Year’s Eve and lose by only four. That easily covered the 13.5-point spread, and on Saturday UNLV went into that building and also covered a double-digit spread.

This season, San Diego State is 1-6 ATS when it’s a double-digit favorite. This is a half-point shy, but I’m applying the same logic I would if the number were 10, despite my concerns about Air Force’s lineup.
