Vegas Play of the Day: Dodgers at Mets

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Los Angeles Dodgers minus-1.5 at New York Mets at minus-130: $390 to win $300:: I hate betting a team on the run line — asking them to win by two or more runs — but can’t resist today with the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Kershaw has given up just two runs in the past 33 innings with 43 strikeouts. In his past two starts, he’s struckout 14 and 13 batters, respectively.

He should continue to excel against the Mets, who because of injury are batting John Mayberry Jr. in the three-hole and Eric Campbell at cleanup tonight. The Mets will start Bartolo Colon, who in his last start surrendered seven runs in four innings.

Plus, the 42-year-old Colon is one of a handful of athletes in sports who I’m still younger than. There’s no way he beats Kershaw.
