Vegas Play of the Day: Stanley Cup Finals Game 1

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Chicago Blackhawks plus-105 at Tampa Bay Lightning: $300 to win $315

The Blackhawks took out any drama in their Game 7 against the Anaheim Ducks, scoring two goals early and then easing into a 5-3 victory. Chicago had to win both Games 6 and 7 to advance and now that it’s in the Stanley Cup Finals, it opens the series against Tampa Bay as the favorite despite the Lightning getting (potentially) more games at home.

It’s tough to gauge how long this series will go, but I’m confident that Tampa Bay is going to have at least a couple of blowup games. This won’t be one of them but Chicago’s still going to find a way to grind out a low-scoring victory, which is going to immediately put the pressure on the Lightning to respond in Game 2.
