Vegas Play of the Day: NBA Finals Game 4

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Golden State Warriors moneyline minus-155 at Cleveland Cavaliers: $465 to win $300

Is this the game when Golden State finally breaks out and wins one that doesn’t require overtime? I think it might be, but to hedge that a little bit, I’m going with the Warriors on the moneyline instead of going minus-3.5.

This series has already been more entertaining than I thought it would be, especially after Kyrie Irving went down in Game 1. To keep things that enjoyable, Golden State really needs to win here and go back home all tied up.

If Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes play the same way they have for most of the NBA Finals, that might be difficult, because their play has been arguably the Warriors’ biggest problem. Cleveland is trying, and succeeding, at grinding this thing out to save their legs as much as possible and keep defenders back to prevent fast breaks.

Even if the Cavaliers succeed in doing those two things again, Golden State should be able to get over the top with just a little better offense — make an open jumper here, a well-executed pick-and-roll there. Plus, I think the Warriors will get a friendlier whistle tonight. So while I’m not sure they’ll be able to run away, I’m confident the series will be tied 2-2.

Standings: Bern (82-72-1, $11,355), Keefer (82-83-2, $9,342), Brewer (71-86-3, $500)
