Vegas Play of the Day: Tennessee at LSU

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Tennessee at LSU, Total Over 131: $550 to win $500 The points total of 131 is too low for high-scoring LSU. It ranks 38th nationally in scoring at 73.9 points per game and 14th in assists at 15.9 per game. In 14 of LSU’s last 16 games, there have been more than 130 points scored.

Tennessee has lost seven of its past eight games and averages just 62 points per game to rank 288th nationally. I’m guessing LSU will enjoy a leisurely victory and score at least 75 points. Even offensively-challenged Tennessee can hold up its end of the bargain and do the rest of the scoring.

Worst case scenario is Tennessee scores with LSU to keep the game close. Either way, tickets on the total over will be cashed.
