Vegas Play of the Day: Louisiana Monroe at Loyola-Chicago

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Louisiana Monroe plus-5.5 at Loyola-Chicago: $330 to win $300

The CBI tournament, the one that UNLV declined to play in, has reached the best-of-3 championship round. It starts tonight with Louisiana Monroe at Loyola-Chicago and then the teams head to Louisiana for one (or two, if needed) to crown a winner.

Loyola-Chicago didn’t even finish above .500 in the Missouri Valley Conference, but it’s had little issue getting to this series by defeating pretty weak competition. Meanwhile, Louisiana Monroe has defeated tougher competition and it defends the 3-point line well, ranking ninth in the country in effective field-goal percentage defense.

I’ll take the Warhawks for the series win and I think that’ll start with either an upset a close loss tonight.

Standings: Keefer (71-71-2, $10,007), Bern (71-65-1, $9,976), Brewer (63-76-3, $2,725)
