Vegas Play of the Day: White Sox at Astros

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Houston Astros minus-130 vs. Chicago White Sox: $520 to win $400 White Sox slugger Jose Abreu is day-to-day with a finger injury and likely won’t play today against Houston. Even if he’s in the lineup, he’s won’t be at full strength. Saturday, when Abreu was on the bench, Chicago failed to score. Simply put: Without Abreu, the White Sox’s offense will struggle. It makes Houston an even more attractive play.

Chicago starter John Danks has been hit hard in his two most recent starts, surrendering 11 runs in 10 combined innings with three home runs to balloon his earned run average to 5.69. Houston leads baseball in home runs, and will surely add to that total today.
