We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Dallas Cowboys minus-1 vs. Carolina Panthers: $550 to win $500

Not to be redundant having already drooled over this game in the pick’em column, but this is really a fantastic spot for the Cowboys. Dallas practically can’t afford to lose for the rest of the season, while Carolina is already set with an undefeated record.

The Patriots might be the only team in the NFL that deserves to lay points on the road against the Cowboys when they have both Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. And yet the Panthers were a favorite earlier in the week.

Unfortunately given the construct of the Play of the Day, I couldn’t lock in a wager on Dallas when it was getting points. But the Cowboys are still well worth a bet at minus-1.

A full-strength Dallas is one of the best teams Carolina has faced all season. The only teams with winning records the Panthers have beaten so far are the Packers and Seahawks.

Those victories came by an average of six points. Carolina is quite fortunate to be sitting at 9-0, as their expected win/loss record based on point differential is much closer to 7-2.

Dallas has experienced rotten luck the other way with five losses by a touchdown or less. But it’s a perfect 3-0 when Romo is healthy.

The Panthers’ unbeaten run is coming to an end.
