Miami linebacker Raphael Kirby (56) grabs and tackles South Carolina running back Mike Davis (28) for a loss in the first half of the Independence Bowl NCAA college football game in Shreveport, La., Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have restarted with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using odds from the South Point.

Miami minus-6.5 at Cincinnati: $330 to win $300

The Bearcats gave up more than 200 passing yards to Miami of Ohio quarterbacks Drew Kummer and Billy Bahl two weeks ago. There’s no telling how much they’re bound to surrender to Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya tonight.

Cincinnati’s tendency to get into shootouts hasn’t hurt it yet this year, but that’s largely because no real defense has been on the schedule. Miami will change that.

Miami has an experienced secondary that’s giving up just six yards per pass attempt through three games. The Hurricanes’ shortcoming has come against the run, where the Bearcats aren’t quite as lethal.

But even their front seven should be improved after 12 days to prepare coming off of a game they came dangerously close to blowing against Nebraska. Miami is in a better spot than Cincinnati, which came out of an overtime loss at Memphis last week banged up and dejected from dropping such a pivotal American Athletic Conference game.

Miami should have its way with Cincinnati in its final non-conference game of the season.
