Vegas Play of the Day: Houston Astros at New York Yankees

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have restarted with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Houston Astros at New York Yankees over-7 runs at minus-120: $450 to win $375

Both of these teams are ahead of schedule, in that neither expected to be in the playoffs this season. The Yankees were desperately trying to get rid of a now 40-year-old Alex Rodriguez, who ended up leading them in home runs, and the Astros figured Carlos Correa and Co. would be ready to dominate in 2017, not 2015.

So, really, just getting to this game is a success for both sides. But when you look at the bright future in Houston, this one-game wild card game should mean more to the Yankees. New York has only one regular starter younger than 31, while Houston has only one regular starter older than 31.

Whether or not New York plays with the necessary urgency, I think the bats are going to decide this one. In fact, I think we’re reaching double-digit runs tonight at Yankee Stadium.
