UNR guard Marqueze Coleman (1) gets off a shot just inside of UNLV forward Christian Wood (5) and others during their game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Morehead State plus-3.5 vs. Nevada-Reno: $550 to win $500

UNR covered in each of the first two games in the CBI Championship Series, beating Morehead State 77-68 as 4-point favorites on Wednesday after losing 86-83 as 5.5-point underdogs on the road Monday. But the way the Wolf Pack have done it might not be sustainable for a third game.

They have shot exceedingly well for their standards, hitting 50 percent of their shots both from the field and the 3-point line. Although the Wolf Pack took steps forward in coach Eric Musselman’s first season, they were not because of a potent offense.

Reno rates 230th in the nation in offensive efficiency, per kenpom.com, making this turnaround totally unforeseen. It’s hard to believe that the Wolf Pack have suddenly become better shooters, so the change is more likely random variation.

Morehead State was in a difficult situation in the last game, traveling three time zones over to play in a game on short rest. The Eagles stayed competitive throughout despite going 1-for-16 on 3-pointers.

It’s reasonable to assume they’re going to hit more shots tonight and beat this number, if not win the game outright.
