Arizona Rattlers minus-29 vs. Portland in Arena Football League: $1,100 to win $1,000: Laying more than four touchdowns is never a good idea, but I’m so confident the Arizona Rattlers will dismantle Portland today that I’m betting the maximum allowed in our contest. And it’s my largest bet in the three-year history of the contest.
Portland has a 3-14 record and is only is the playoffs because every AFL team reached the postseason. Arizona is a league power and playing at home — Phoenix easily has the league’s best fan base, and even hosts parades when the Rattlers win the championship. Portland is simply playing out the schedule.
They’ve played three times already this season with Arizona posting a 2-0-1 record against the spread with victories of 80-28, 68-21 and 76-49. Portland’s offense ranks last in the league — that’s what happens when you score just 28 points on a 50-yard field designed for points.
