Vegas Play of the Day: Pittsburgh Pirates at San Francisco Giants

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Pittsburgh Pirates at San Francisco Giants under 7.5 runs at plus-105: $400 to win $420

Both starting pitchers in this game are somewhat foreign to the lineups they’re facing.

Pirates starter Ryan Vogelsong is still known best as a Giant. San Francisco starter Matt Moore is making only his third career start in the National League.

That should add to a number of factors to keep this game between two playoff contenders low scoring. Both teams are merely average at producing runs, and it won’t help playing in an extreme pitchers park after each had wild weekend series.

The Pirates exploded for 11 runs in securing a series win over the Dodgers on Sunday, just as the Giants were blowing a lead to the Orioles in an 8-7 loss.

After high offensive outputs the last few games, the teams should regress in the runs category. Neither Vogelsong nor Moore is a superstar, but both are set up for success tonight.

Current Standings: Brewer (7-6, $10,745), Keefer (5-4, $10,120), Bern (4-6, $9,570)
