We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Denver Broncos minus-5 vs. Los Angeles Rams: $330 to win $300

Both the Rams’ preseason games so far have been big events, at least as big as preseason games can be, at local sports books. Los Angeles has gotten bet heavily, and came through with a pair of covers and wins for its backers.

That should end tonight. Denver has one of the best home field advantages in the NFL, and several key offensive battles that will keep intensity high well into the second half.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak has traditionally been a great bet in the preseason, even though the defending Super Bowl champions lost 31-24 to the 49ers last week. Denver wound up with yardage and first-down advantages in the game, though.

The Rams were the opposite in their narrow 21-20 victory against the Chiefs. Luck was also on Los Angeles’ side in the preseason opener, as it rallied to beat Dallas 28-24 with a big second half.

If the Rams dig themselves into a hole for a third straight preseason game, it won’t be so easy to get out of it against the Broncos.

Current Standings: Keefer (8-5-1, $10,840), Bern (5-7, $9,654), Brewer (7-8, $9,365)
