Vegas Play of the Day: Providence at DePaul

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Providence minus-6.5 at DePaul, $660 to win $600: DePaul has lost eight of its last nine games, including falling by 21 points Sunday to visiting Xavier, despite leading in the first half by double digits. DePaul is just 3-11 against the Vegas betting number in its past 14 games.

They are just a seven-win team and lack player depth. While they might be competitive early in games, as witnessed last weekend against Xavier, they fade in the second half.

Providence (18-4) will have the best three players on the court in Ben Bentil, Kris Dunn and Rodney Bullock. Dunn is one of the best players in the nation, averaging 17.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. Bentil leads the Friars in scoring at 20 points per game. That’s too much offense for DePaul to keep up with.

Providence should win by 20 or more points, easily covering the spread.
