Vegas Play of the Day: New Mexico at UNLV

UNLV Basketball Team Faces New Mexico

L.E. Baskow

New Mexico head coach Craig Neal is a bit unhappy about his team’s play during their UNLV game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

New Mexico plus-6 at UNLV: $440 to win $400

The Rebels have had a couple of inflated lines in their favor lately, and this feels like another one in interim coach Todd Simon’s debut. Perhaps UNLV (9-7, 0-3) will get an emotional charge from the coaching change that ended Dave Rice’s tenure 16 games into his fifth season, but even if that’s the case, it might not be enough to cover six.

I haven’t thought much of the Lobos (10-6, 3-0) this season, but they’ve won their first three league games by an average of 15 points, and junior forward Tim Williams could give UNLV’s defense some big problems in the post. It will be a good showing and a straight-up victory for the Rebels, but I’ll side with the road team to keep it close.
