Vegas Play of the Day: Nebraska at Purdue

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Nebraska plus-13 at Purdue, $440 to win $400: Nebraska has covered the points spread in five of its last six games, including straight up at Michigan State last Saturday as a 15-point betting underdog. It’s a similar spot today at Purdue with the Cornhuskers expected to lose by double digits on the road.

Nebraska has an extremely young team, but are improving each game and playing with a purpose.

Guard Andrew White has emerged as their best player, scoring 16.4 points per game and making 50-percent of his shots. He’ll keep Nebraska in the game with his outside shooting ability. Shavon Shields, at 6 foot 7, had 28 points against Michigan State and can score from the inside and out.

Purdue with an 18-4 record in one of the best teams in the Big 10 Conference. But it lost at Iowa last Saturday and needed to rally to beat Minnesota earlier in the week. It’s a great spot to beat Nebraska, who I suspect will keep the game close until the end and easily cover the points spread.
