The Seattle Mariners’ Kyle Seager hits a home run against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.

We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Seattle Mariners minus-140 vs. Baltimore Orioles: $350 to win $250

This play is largely a result of the South Point’s line, which is a little bit below market price. Every cent matters, especially if you’re in the baseball predicament I’m in.

I fell to something like 0-6 on baseball plays this year courtesy of an 8-run ninth inning earlier this week. Every day I’ve been forced to pick a baseball game in this column over the last few months, I’ve scoured the board for the best-looking underdog.

Hence that it’s time to try something new, and go with a favorite that appears to have value today. Baltimore’s bats have gone cold in losing two straight to Seattle, and there’s no sign that they should heat back up tonight.

The Mariners have the pitching edge with James Paxton over Tyler Wilson. Take away their records, and these teams are closer to evenly matched.

Seattle could be a bigger favorite at home with the better pitcher, and that’s the direction they’re trending at other sports books. I’ll take this price while it’s available.

Current Standings: Keefer (1-0, $10,500), Brewer (0-0, $10,000), Bern (0-0, $10,000)
