Vegas Play of the Day: Las Vegas Summer League Championship

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Minnesota Timberwolves moneyline (plus-180) against Chicago Bulls: $400 to win $720

It’s been a nice tournament run at the Las Vegas Summer League for Minnesota, which went 0-3 in pool play before ripping off four straight victories as the last-place seed. Now the Timberwolves are in the finals tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center against a Chicago Bulls team that hasn’t lost a single game. That’s about to change.

Summer League MVP Tyus Jones has picked up the production lost when No. 5 pick Kris Dunn went down with a concussion. And twice during this tournament run, Minnesota has held its opponent under 80 points.

Chicago has notched a couple of blowouts, but against decent competition, the Bulls have won close games. With the way they’ve been playing, the Bulls expected to be here, but Minnesota certainly did not. That’s going to help the T-Wolves play with nothing to lose, which will result in a victory.

Current Standings: Keefer (3-1, $10,2601), Bern (0-1, $9,600), Brewer (1-3, $9,100)

Taylor Bern can be reached at 948-7844 or [email protected]. Follow Taylor on Twitter at twitter.com/taylorbern.
