Vegas Play of the Day: Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles

J.J. Hardy-Mike Trout

Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy tags out Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout on a steal attempt during the sixth inning Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Baltimore.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Baltimore Orioles plus-135 vs. Toronto Blue Jays: $740 to win $999

I’ve yet to hit a baseball bet this season but have no other choice but to keep trying. I think there’s value in this midpriced underdog tonight.

The Orioles have controlled the American League East all season, but it seems everyone has been prepared for them to relinquish their lead. That could come this weekend with both Toronto and Boston creeping within two games.

I don’t think the Orioles go down that easily. While Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez has shown some potential, he’s outmatched by this Baltimore lineup at Camden Yards.

Orioles starter Mike Wright just needs to be serviceable, as he’s been in his last two appearances, and this is pretty close to an even matchup. These teams are close to identical in a number of metrics.

I’ll take another risk on the bases and go with the home underdog.
