Vegas Play of the Day: Arkansas-Little Rock vs. Purdue

Arkansas-Little Rock

Associated Press

Arkansas-Little Rock head coach Chris Beard wears a shirt with message on his back as he holds out his injured right hand during practice for a first-round men’s college basketball game in the NCAA Tournament, March 16, 2016, in the NCAA Tournament in Denver. Arkansas-Little Rock faces Purdue on Thursday.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Arkansas-Little Rock plus-9 vs. Purdue: $660 to win $600

Arkansas-Little Rock is one of the slowest teams in the country, and it also boasts a top-10 3-point defense that’s going to help it stay close in this No. 12 vs. No. 5 game in Denver.

Little Rock’s pace is an advantage for any team trying to pull off the upset, because statistically more possessions are just more opportunities for the better team to win out. The Trojans’ rotation is almost all juniors and seniors, and I’m confident that group will be able to keep the game in their type of style.

Purdue’s defense is really good, too, so I’m a little concerned about Little Rock’s undersized lineup creating points. But if the game remains low scoring enough that might not matter enough to push the margin into double digits.
