Vegas Play of the Day: Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma

Oklahoma-VCU

Sue Ogrocki / AP

Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield, right, shoots over Virginia Commonwealth forward Mo Alie-Cox, left, and guard Jordan Burgess in the first half of a second-round men’s college basketball game Sunday, March 20, 2016, in the NCAA Tournament in Oklahoma City.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Oklahoma minus-2.5 vs. Texas A&M, $440 to win $400: At this stage of the college basketball season, it’s all about experience. I’ll take Oklahoma’s group of seniors, including national player of the year candidate Buddy Hield, over any player combination Texas A&M has to offer.

Hield has been so dominant in averaging 25.4 points per game that he’s stolen some of the hype from Sooner seniors Ryan Spangler and Isaiah Cousins. Spangler averages a near double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds in 33 minutes per game, and Cousins averages 13.1 points and 4.4 assists per game.

Oklahoma has used the same starting lineup in all of its 34 games, including the three seniors and junior point guard Jordan Woodard (12 ppg) starting 102 straight games together. Advantage, Oklahoma.

Texas A&M, of course, is lucky to be in the Sweet 16. It needed a historic rally to erase a 10-point deficit in the final 30 seconds of regulation last weekend against Northern Iowa to win in double overtime. It’s safe to assume Texas A&M players could still be recovering from the emotional and physical strains of the comeback.

Current Standings (as of July 1): Brewer (41-33-1, $12,070), Keefer (37-48-2, $7,292), Bern (29-35, $6,565)

Lifetime standings: 2014-15 Champion Bern (108-109-1), Keefer (121-130-4), Brewer (110-120-3)
