Vegas Play of the Day: Red Sox at White Sox

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Chicago White Sox minus-110 vs. Boston Red Sox: $440 to win $400: With a 19-9 record, the Chicago White Sox are one of baseball’s best teams in the initial weeks of the season. One of the keys in handicapping a 162-game baseball season is wagering on the streaks, and the White Sox are hot. They are also at home, which could give it a slight advantage against Boston in an evenly matched game.

The White Sox will start Erik Johnson in his first appearance since being promoted from Triple-A. Johnson went 3-1 with a 3.74 earned run average in six starts last season for Chicago, meaning he’s more than capable. He’s matched against Boston’s Henry Owens, who couldn’t make it out of the fourth inning against Houston in his last start. Owens also began the season in Triple-A.

Current Standings (as of July 1): Brewer (46-37-2, $12,005), Keefer (45-56-2, $5,890), Bern (30-38, $5,575)

Lifetime standings: 2014-15 Champion (109-112-1), Keefer (128-138-4), Brewer (115-124-4)
