Vegas Play of the Day: Tampa Bay Lightning at Pittsburgh Penguins

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Pittsburgh Penguins under 5 goals at plus-135: $740 to win $999

Oddsmakers have juiced the over too highly after the series has so far been heavy on offense. That’s created buy-signs on the under.

Neither the Lightning nor the Penguins are great defensive teams, but they aren’t pushovers either. Tampa Bay actually appeared to solve its defensive woes in a game 4 victory before giving up three goals late in the third period.

Pittsburgh juggles between two goalies, not optimal for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but coach Mike Sullivan seems to have the magical touch on choosing correctly on a game-to-game basis.

Both teams figure to be at their sharpest with the series tied at two games apiece, which should translate into a physical affair. In a battle like that, the high payout on the under makes it an attractive option.

Current Standings (as of July 1): Brewer (47-41-2, $10,375), Bern (32-39, $6,625), Keefer (47-57-2, $5,390)
