We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks under 5 goals at plus-115: $860 to win $989

Obscured by giving up a combined 18 goals in the last two games is the fact that the Blues and Sharks are both on the precipice of the Stanley Cup partially because of strong defenses.

They both rank in the top 10 in Corsi Against per 60 minutes, one of the best metrics to measure defensive production.

Five of the first six times they played this season, the game went under the total. The chance to get the under at a plus price in a decisive game is too good to pass up.

St. Louis is enduring goalie problems, but its defense should rise to the occasion with the team facing elimination in San Jose. Before the last two games, the series was physical and tense.

With the Play of the Day season coming to an end and me quickly falling out of contention, I’ll put a max bet on the western conference finals getting back to that style.
