Vegas Play of the Day: Alabama vs. Clemson

Alabama

Skip Martin / AP

Alabama wide receiver T.J. Simmons celebrates with fans after the Peach Bowl NCAA college football playoff game between Alabama and Washington, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, in Atlanta. Alabama won 24-7.

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

Alabama minus-6.5 vs. Clemson: $550 to win $500 Alabama is the best college football team of this generation and will put up a lopsided victory tonight against Clemson in the national championship game to cement that status.

Do you remember Alabama’s 42-14 beat-down of Notre Dame in the 2013 national championship game? Tonight, the result will be similar.

Clemson is a return participant in the national championship game but hasn’t consistently played like a national championship contender this season. They survived 19-13 against Auburn, lost at home to Pittsburgh and scored just 24 points in an overtime win against NC State. Yes, the Tigers are a perennial contender and have a tremendous track record of recent success.

But it will be outclassed tonight against Alabama. Roll Tide.

Current Standings: Keefer (34-23-2, $11,961), Brewer (21-17-1, $10,645), Grimala (2-2, $10,000), Granger (5-10, $5,850)
