Vegas Play of the Day: Diamonbacks at Pirates

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. A participant's failure to place a bet on their scheduled day results in a $200 bankroll penalty.

Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-15.

Pittsburgh Pirates plus-110 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks, $900 to win $990: After returning from the disabled list, Pittsburgh starter Ivan Nova has turned his season around. He’s given up just two runs combined over his past two starts, both Pittsburgh wins.

Nova still has an ugly 4.42 earned run average, and by no means, is this a lock. But he’s a hot pitcher and betting baseball is about riding streaks.

Pittsburgh is also a much stronger team when playing at home, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when attendance tends to be better.

Keefer (36-28-1, $11,716), Granger (17-17, $8,459), Brewer (28-30-1, $5,140), Grimala (17-24, $4,405)
