Boulder Boats: Boulder City, NV & Henderson, NV - in partnership with The Wake the World Foundation a 501c3 organization have arranged for a fun filled day at Lake Mead for St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and the residents of The Crossings Program. The goal of Wake the World is to provide an opportunity to share our love for the water sports with others that may not have the opportunity to do so otherwise!
WHAT: Boulder Boats to Host WAKE the WORLD for St. Jude’s Ranch for Children at Lake Mead, Callville Bay – Lake Mead Yacht Club, September 28, 2013
This will be the third annual event held for the children of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and The Crossings Program which provides supportive housing and services for homeless 18 to 25 year olds. The staff and customers of Boulder Boats will take the children and staff out for a day out on Lake Mead to enjoy skiing, wakeboarding, surfing and tubing. There will be at least ten wakeboard specific boats on the water for the children and staff of St. Jude’s to experience this amazing day of enjoying boating and learning water sports on Lake Mead.
“We are so excited for this event and to be able to give our children a much needed day of fun on the lake” says Veronica Huening of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. “Most of our children and families have never even been on a boat; much less had an opportunity to learn a new, fun and exciting water sport. This event is going to create memories for a lifetime. We can’t wait!” The opportunity to introduce water sports and boating to the children is a very special experience for all of us.
“We hope to create a positive and memorable experience for everyone!“ Kristina Litjens of Boulder Boats

St. Jude’s Ranch for Children
The mission of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children is to serve all abused, abandoned, and neglected children and families, creating new chances, new choices, and new hope in a safe homelike environment. Children are placed at the Ranch when their parents or guardians are unable or unfit to adequately care for them. One of the most important features of the Ranch is the ability to keep large sibling groups together when they might otherwise be separated and scattered among several facilities in foster care. WAKE the WORLD Foundation
Original founder Greg Hodgin - A friend of mine brought a few kids from a Children's Home to church one day. These kids were the same age as my oldest daughter and it made me think about the things they are not getting, that my girls probably take for granted. I told my wife, ‘We should go by the home & take a few of them to the lake.’ She said, ‘That wouldn't be fair to the rest of them. You need to take all of them.’ And that is basically how it all got started.”
