Penta Raises $120,000 for Southern Nevada Nonprofits with Charity Golf Tournament
Published on Thu, Jul 24, 2014 (1:57 p.m.)LAS VEGAS (July 24, 2014) – The PENTA Building Group, a nationally recognized general contractor based in Las Vegas, recently raised $120,000 for local nonprofit organizations during its 10th annual Charity Golf Classic at the Revere Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada.
Tournament participants raised funds through sponsorships and donations to support the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF), the Women’s Development Center (WDC) and the Wounded Warrior Project.
PENTA has hosted its annual golf tournament for 10 years, raising a total of nearly $1 million for local nonprofits.
“As a community-focused company, PENTA strives to support local organizations that provide essential services for individuals and families in need,” said John Cannito, PENTA’s chief operating officer. “This year’s Charity Golf Classic served as a valuable opportunity to help three organizations strengthen their efforts to make a significant impact on our community.”
The company has supported the NCCF and WDC through its annual golf tournament every year since the event’s inception. The WDC provides a broad range of housing services for homeless and low-income community members, including transitional housing and affordable rental programs. The NCCF provides a wide variety of free, local support services for critically ill children and their families.
This is the first year PENTA is also supporting the Wounded Warrior Project, which offers programs and services to meet the needs of injured military service members.
PENTA’s donation to the WDC will directly support the nonprofit’s transitional housing program, providing participants with a furnished apartment, in addition to services such as job development, safety planning and crisis intervention. Approximately 80 percent of the program’s participants are victims of domestic violence, said Tina Prieto, executive director of the WDC.
“This funding does change lives. We are incredibly grateful for donations that help us keep people off the streets and provide them with a safe home and services so they can build a better life,” Prieto said. “PENTA has supported our mission for so many years. I feel blessed that the company considers our services a priority. The amount PENTA gives us shows so much about the company and how much it cares about the people in our community.”
The donation to the NCCF will provide emergency funding for the nonprofit’s Project A.R.K. (Aids and Resources for Kids), which offers financial and psychological support services to more than 400 critically ill children and their families in Southern Nevada each year.
“I don’t know what we would do without PENTA’s support,” said Jeff Gordon, president and CEO of NCCF. “PENTA helps so many nonprofits in Southern Nevada in a big way. When the company donates, it donates to make a difference, and PENTA has done this for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation for 10 years.”
