U.S. Senator Howard Cannon represented Nevada from 1958 until 1982 and was known as a productive, influential, modest yet under appreciated lawmaker who was instrumental in shaping Nevada’s future. Author Michael Vernetti, who was Cannon’s press secretary from 1977 until Cannon’s last term in office, will discuss Cannon’s rich life detailed in his new biography: “Senator Howard Cannon.” Vernetti will take questions about Cannon’s role in Washington and Nevada politics and the major changes in election laws and national military preparedness, which occurred when Cannon served on the Commerce Science and Transportation, Armed Services and Rules Committees.
