Taming the Wildest Economy in the West

The Nevada State Human Resources Council for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), will host its 2010 State Conference, “Taming the Wildest Economy in the West,” on September 14 at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The organization will present a selection of exceptional individuals addressing topics important to all businesses, including the future of human resources and post-recession strategies, national and state labor relations and the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), immigration reform, healthcare reform, business trends and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA).

Additionally, the conference will provide Nevada business owners, managers and human resource professionals with timely legislative and legal updates specific to our state.

During the conference, the Nevada State Council will present the Workplace Readiness Award to one outstanding organization that has demonstrated a commitment to the re-training and development of the Nevada workforce.

Debra Solt, director of workforce development for Vegas PBS, will be the featured keynote speaker during the lunch program, which will also include the soothing sounds of Carl Ferris, the popular Fremont Street Experience jazz musician.

The Gold Coast Casino will present a lecture entitled "Taming the Wildest Economy in the West." Sponsors of the event include AARP, Maalouf Benefit Resources, Prism HR Consulting & Insurance Services, Littler Employment & Labor Law Solutions Worldwide, The Law Office of Jason Guinasso, Houldsworth, Russo & Co. Certified Public Accountants and Upromise College Fund.

Reservations will be accepted through Friday, September 10. The cost to attend the full conference is only $129 through July 31, or $149 for reservations received after that date. For the lunch program alone, the cost is $55. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available.
