The Liberace Show to Open New Riviera

For the premeire program in the Theatre Restaurant of the resplendent Riviera, "A New High in the Las Vegas Sky," producer-director, Hal Belfner, brings a new high in entertainment to Las Vegas with The Liberace Show, the first in a series of typical Broadway musical comedy reviews, starring Liberace, and featuring George Liberace and his 23-piece orchestra.

Three production numbers will present "The Riviera Story," "The Liberace Story," and the magnificent Candelabra Ballet, with such prominent dancing and singing talent as Joy Roberts, Mark Aldon, Sally Blythe, Buck Young, Emmaline Henry and Dickie Lerner, plus the striking beauty of the Riviera Girls, costumed by Berman of Hollywood with settings by J. Krause, one of the nation's outstanding art directors of stage and TV. This, as well as following productions, will be under the musical baton of Ray Sinatra.

The Riviera's extravaganza, which includes the particularly dazzling formal attire dreamed up by Christian Dior for Liberace to wear, is to be presented in a Tiffany setting of classic design, which far surpasses anything in beauty and decor of supper clubs from coast to coast.

Accommodating more than 1,200 guests for the two nightly presentations, the Clover Room is draped in swaths of platinum gray velour, faced with Empire green, hanging from huge brass ceiling illuminated by huge spheres of starlight constellations.

This theatre club has been designed in six elevations, covering 10,000 square feet, assuring every guest an unobstructed view of the huge stage, which in itself has a width of 80 ft., a depth of 40 ft., and four turntables, plus the very latest in lighting and sound equipment, with which Hal Belfer is able to stage a full Broadway musical production.
