Thanks to U.S. help, Taiwan now is a democratic nation

Within 10 years, Taiwan has gone from a country governed by martial law to one celebrating full democratic rights. Taiwan deserves a great pat on the back for accomplishing this so peacefully. The ROC should be commended for continuing with the election, despite the military bullying from the Chinese mainland during the campaign period.

In the words of President Lee, "At a time when our country is under threat and intimidation, we are able to complete this election successfully because we believe deeply that this is a historic call of mission."

As a mentor for democracy in Taiwan, Americans should be proud of themselves. Without the help of Washington and the American people, the price of democracy could have been a lot harsher. Please share our gratitude with your readers.
