Miller to meet with Mexican president

CARSON CITY - Gov. Bob Miller will meet with Mexico President Ernesto Zedillo on April 15 in Mexico City as part of a mission to boost Nevada trade opportunities with Mexico.

Miller will travel with a group of state officials and Nevada business executives. Meetings also are scheduled with members of the Mexican cabinet and U.S. Ambassador to Mexico James Jones.

"Trade potential between Nevada and Mexico remains very strong," Miller said. "Mexico represents an important export market for Nevada goods and services."

Nevada exports to Mexico totaled $12.9 million in 1995, up from $12.4 million in 1994. In 1993, before Mexico's monetary crisis, Nevada firms exported $44 million in products to Mexico.

Miller will begin the trade mission in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday. He'll meet with regional government officials and business leaders while there.

He's scheduled to join the full Nevada delegation in Mexico City on Sunday.
