Name of Murder Victim Released

They said on Wednesday that he was 32 and was known both as Agustin Vasques and as Eliseo Vasquez Alcarez. They say he had been in Reno for about a year, working as a casual laborer.

Police earlier said the man showed signs of being extensively beaten around the upper body. But the coroner's office said it hadn't been determined whether the man died from the battering or from drowning.

The body was recovered on Monday from the river near the East McCarran bridge and close to the Dominican Brothers Monastery.

Police estimate he had been in the river about 24 hours.
