Civil rights excesses have wrecked police work

Why? Common sense tells us that if the LAPD will not back its officers when they have done their jobs but, instead, locks them up for "offenses" against criminals, there will be less enthusiasm for arrests. Rodney King has cost the federal government $70.5 million in addition to the several million he cost California to settle with him lest the community see fit to riot again. The whole country has submitted to mob rule out of fear of the mentality that created the LA riots.

What mentality? Why, the one who finds no harm in resisting arrest beyond the power of the police to counter it without exceptional force, who thinks the police who caught him deserve jail time while the criminal continues his life of petty crime without hindrance, who feels LA owed this man millions of dollars for injuries that did not even cause hospitalization.

This is the kind of thing that gives "civil rights" a bad name.
