Shooting suspects sought by police

Metro Police are looking for two men who shot a Las Vegas man in the thigh when he refused to give them money in a parking lot.

Gerald Sanders, 30, was walking to his car parked at an apartment complex at 1405 E. Vegas Valley Drive, near Maryland Parkway, about 9:25 p.m. Thursday when two men approached him, Lt. Wayne Petersen said.

One of the men pointed a handgun at Sanders and demanded money, Petersen said. But Sanders told them he didn't have any money and walked away from them toward his car.

One of the men fired three or four rounds at Sanders, hitting him in the right thigh.

Sanders was taken to University Medical Center and he was released today, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The men ran to a car waiting for them and fled, Petersen said.

The men were described as in their 20s, black, about 5 feet 10 and 190 to 200 pounds. The car was described by several witnesses as a large, white, 1980s two-door Ford or Oldsmobile sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 385-5555.
