"I opposed sending troops over there," said Reid, D-Nev. "I told the president I didn't want them to go, but I feel real good about what they're doing over there. They're keeping the peace."
Reid returned Friday from a trip to observe peace-keeping activities.
Reid said he believes the Clinton administration will keep its word and remove the American troops by December, meeting a one-year deadline as promised.
Reid made the trip with Senate Minority Leader Thomas Daschle of South Dakota and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.
