Educators, parents honored

Inductees into the "Parent Hall of Fame" and "Excellence in Education Hall of Fame" were honored in a special joint ceremony.

During a special School Board meeting at Cashman Field on Thursday, all honorees were officially recognized.

The Parent Hall of Fame was established four years ago to recognize the extraordinary and lasting contributions of parents in the Clark County School District.

The Excellence in Education Hall of Fame was established by the School Board in 1987 to recognize individuals, organizations, departments and schools for their special contributions to the district. Names of inductees for both halls of fame are on display in the lobby of the Education Center at 2832 E. Flamingo Road.

This year's parent inductees are Yolanda Lloyd, Joyce Seegmiller, Linda Eliason, Brenda Kennedy, Erica Goodman, Lillian McMorris, Sue Wesolowski, Sheila and Larry Moulton and Barbara Cegavske.

Those named to the excellence hall will be Cimarron-Memorial High School Scholarship Fund-raiser; elementary art teacher Roz Knight and her "City of the World" project; community leader Dorothy Eisenberg; Focus School Project, a program of the School-Community Partnership Office that provides assistance for at-risk students and schools; Geographic Alliance In Nevada, which trains teachers in geography education; Green Valley High School music teacher Diane Koutsulis; One Neighborhood for Everyone, a cooperative effort among Clark High School, Metro Police and the surrounding neighborhood; Grant Sawyer Middle School Technology Department; Eva Simmons, a 32-year district employee who is an area superintendent for the Elementary Education Division; and John Wood, industrial arts and technology teacher at Brinley Middle School.
