Police bust three after store heist, car chase

Two robbers who held up a drugstore clerk at gunpoint today were captured 15 minutes after their car crashed into a pole.

Also arrested was their female driver.

The two men walked into the Payless Drug Store at 4530 E. Charleston Blvd. at 7:12 a.m. and demanded money as they held a gun on a female clerk, Metro Police said.

An employee called 911 from a back room while it was happening.

The cashier gave the robbers an undisclosed amount of money from the register and the pair fled in a car driven by a woman who was waiting outside, police said.

Officers arrived as the car sped away and a chase ensued.

The getaway car crashed into a pole at Mahogany Drive and Page Street in front of an apartment complex a few blocks away. The three fled on foot.

The woman was arrested first as she ran into the apartment complex, police said.

One man, described only as 25 years old, was arrested when police found him hiding in a ditch next to an apartment building.

A second man was apprehended at Locustwood Street and Marion Drive after police surrounded the area.

Police recovered all the money and a brown checkered bag believed to have been used in the robbery.

The identities of the robbers, who were being booked into the Clark County Detention Center, were not immediately available.
