Raggio set for CCSN address

State Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio will be the keynote speaker for the Community College of Southern Nevada's 24th annual commencement.

Graduation is set for May 12 at 6 p.m. in the Cashman Field Center Theater. The public is invited.

Nearly 800 students are expected to receive associate degrees or certificates of achievement in many of the 70 career fields during the 1995-96 academic year.

CCSN President Richard Moore will be presiding over his second CCSN commencement. Board of Regents Chairman Maddy Graves and University and Community College System of Nevada Chancellor Richard Jarvis will also participate.

Three Southern Nevada community leaders will receive honorary associate degrees: Clark County Superintendent Brian Cram; former CCSN student and founder of Operation Life Community Development Corp., Ruby Duncan; and Michael Meyer, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.

Now in its 25th year, CCSN is Nevada's largest institution of higher education with more than 22,400 students enrolled. Ninety percent are part-time scholars with full-time jobs, according to a recent survey.
