The Boyd Gaming Corp. is branching into the Midwest.
Las Vegas-based Boyd, owners of the Stardust, Sam's Town, the Californian and the Fremont hotel-casinos, has signed an agreement to acquire Par-a-Dice Gaming Corp., which owns a riverboat casino in East Peoria, Ill.
The $175 million transaction is contingent upon approval by the Illinois Gaming Board.
Par-a-Dice was the second riverboat to begin operation in Illinois, opening in Peoria in November 1991 and moving to East Peoria in 1993.
