Ordinary people the victims of the latest corporate greed

It's a green piece of paper called a dollar. The greed and quest for those dollars circumvents any consideration for the public's good.

Corporate perfidy runs rampant in the desire for dollars, no matter how many are hurt.

We have tobacco companies reaping billions by selling illness and death to smokers addicted to nicotine. We have a company knowingly marketing defective heart pacemakers, with complete disregard for the individual using the pacemaker to sustain life. We have vehicle manufacturers with fuel tanks exploding in minor accidents. Of course, it is all right for some people to burn to death instead of re-engineering the vehicle for safety. We'll give the federal government a few million to look the other way.

As I write, we now have a company dealing in human blood that has been charged with 200 violations of the FDA regulations for the handling of blood products. If someone gets HIV-infected or dies because of contaminate blood, well, that's the breaks. We have thousands of average workers laid off in so-called downsizing, no matter the hurt to those families, then the CEO is awarded millions in bonuses.

Like Babylon, Egypt, Greece and Rome, so goes America. How sad. How tragic!
