Meadows Mall reserves parking spot for expectant mothers

Moms-to-be no longer have to endure long walks to and from their cars at the Meadows Mall.

The shopping center at U.S. 95 and Valley View Boulevard has recently designated special "Stork Parking" spaces for expectant mothers.

Signs reserve the eight parking spaces close to the mall entrances so moms-to-be don't have to walk as far to reach their shopping destinations. The signs are located at the front of the lot at each entrance into the shopping center.

"We have always tried to provide an environment which makes shopping as pleasant and comfortable as possible," said Heather McCombs, Meadows Mall marketing manager. "We think this is a unique way to reach out to moms-to-be and give them an extra measure of comfort."

McCombs said the mall staff is pleased to see many grateful expectant mothers using the spaces and other customers who respect the reserved spaces and leave them open to be used by those who need them.

But for expectant mothers who want to walk to stay healthy during their pregnancy, mall officials encourage them to use the mall to walk. Doors open at 7 every morning for anyone interested in mall walking.

The mall provides a safe and temperature controlled environment for people wanting to avoid scorching summer temperatures.
